Research
Research in materials science and engineering is focused on the development constructive, functional and active materials and their industrial applications. In materials processing research we study utilization of primary and secondary raw materials, and, related to them, mechanical processes and phenomena and, additionally, systems for materials recycling. Our core areas are process thermodynamics and kinetics, fluid dynamics, and heat and mass transfer phenomena and their modelling.
As for the usability and applicability of materials we are studying new material solutions, e. g. for construction materials including metals, materials for energy technology, biomaterials, coatings and nanomaterials. Additionally, principal themes for us are developing applications for silicon technology and microsystems, and for electronic and magnetic materials.
